Tulum, Quintana Roo — A tractor-trailer hauling metal sheets overturned on the Tulum-Felipe Carrillo Puerto highway Monday morning, causing traffic delays and scattering its cargo across the road.
The accident occurred around kilometer 215 of the federal highway after one of the truck’s tires blew out, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle veered off course and overturned, spilling part of its load of metal sheets onto the pavement.
The scattered cargo blocked one lane of the highway, forcing drivers to slow down and creating temporary traffic complications for motorists in the area.
Motorists who witnessed the accident alerted emergency services, prompting police officers and emergency personnel to arrive at the scene to secure the area and manage the situation.
The truck driver sustained minor injuries in the crash but did not require hospitalization. Paramedics who responded provided medical attention to check for serious injuries.
Meanwhile, support personnel worked to remove the cargo from the highway and coordinate the necessary maneuvers to either right the vehicle or clear the roadway completely.
Slow traffic persisted in the affected stretch for several minutes as crews worked to restore normal traffic conditions.
