Five Detained After Deadly Shooting at El Paisa Restaurant-Bar in Cancún

Police officers arrest five people suspected of taking part in a deadly shooting at El Paisa restaurant-bar in Cancún, Quintana Roo.

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Five people have been detained in connection with Sunday’s armed attack on the “El Paisa” restaurant-bar that left one person dead and five others injured, including a minor.

Police made the arrests during operations in the Victoria and La Morena neighborhoods in the Supermanzana 243 area, as part of the investigation into the shooting at the bar in Supermanzana 228. Authorities also seized several doses of an illicit substance and a motorcycle allegedly used by the attackers.

The attack occurred on Avenida Niños Héroes, near the Cancún Mall, when armed individuals entered the establishment and fired multiple shots at people inside. Emergency crews confirmed one person died at the scene and five others were wounded, one of them a minor.

Following the initial investigation, police carried out several operations that led to the five detentions and the motorcycle seizure.

Their involvement has not been officially confirmed, and authorities are working to determine each person’s role in the attack. Investigators are expected to release more details in the coming hours.
