Drug Dealing Crimes Rise 30% in Quintana Roo

Police officers patrol a tourist area in Quintana Roo as drug dealing reports rise across the state

Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Retail drug dealing crimes in Quintana Roo rose 30% in the first seven months of this year compared with the same period last year, according to figures from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (Sesnsp).

The agency recorded 1,898 drug dealing offenses between January and July, up from 1,460 in 2025. Police sources said the highest concentration of cases is in the state’s northern corridor, particularly in tourist destinations where drug-distribution groups operate.

Julio César Gómez Torres, head of the state’s Citizen Security Department, said authorities continue to implement police strategies to combat the activity, though the latest figures show the problem has not been contained.
