Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo — Municipal authorities are expanding the public street lighting network along a 500-meter stretch near Leona Vicario Middle School, a project officials say will enhance safety for students and residents.
Mayor Mary Hernandez inspected the ongoing work, which involves installing 20 light poles with lamps along Calle 65 in the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood and Calle 61 in the Cecilio Chi neighborhood. The project is in its final stages and is funded through the 2025 municipal budget.
“We are installing these light poles and electrical infrastructure for the safety of those who live here and those who pass through this area, but especially for the students who use this route every day to get to and from school,” Hernandez said during the inspection.
The mayor stated she will continue to monitor the progress of various municipal projects nearing completion and will schedule a formal handover to the community.
