Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A federal court has rejected, for the third consecutive time, an amparo petition filed by former Playa del Carmen mayor Lili Campos Miranda, as she seeks to avoid answering questions about alleged multimillion-peso fund diversions during her administration.
The Fourth District Court of Quintana Roo dismissed the request, filed in indirect amparo case 1045/2026, which challenged a demand from the Substantiation, Advisory and Legal Analysis Directorate of the municipality’s Internal Control Body in proceeding DSCAJ/INC-035/2026. The court’s electronic notice read: “Complainant notified: dismissed.”
That ruling follows two previous amparo requests dismissed on Monday.
Campos, who served as mayor for the National Action Party (PAN) before joining the Morena party, has been summoned along with several former officials to clarify the alleged diversion of public funds. Among those called are her ex-husband Pedro Escobedo Vázquez, who served as municipal treasurer, and Kira Iris San, who also held that position. The list also includes Beny Millán Parra, former secretary of public services; Lourdes Várguez Ocampo, former secretary of sustainable environment, climate change and coastal zones (Zofemat); and José Luis Argüelles González, former director of entertainment in Playa del Carmen.
Municipal government sources said Campos has been reluctant to appear before investigators, which is why she has continued filing amparo petitions. The sources added that, if the situation continues, the case could escalate and potentially become a criminal proceeding.
