Chetumal, Quintana Roo — The Mobility Institute of Quintana Roo (Imoveqroo) has launched an online driver’s license renewal service that allows residents to renew their licenses without leaving home, with new licenses delivered directly to their doorstep.
The service, available starting this month, covers type A1 licenses for private vehicle drivers and type A2 licenses for motorcyclists. Rafael Hernández Kotasek, head of Imoveqroo, said the process is fully digital and can be completed from a computer or smartphone, including identity validation and electronic payment, followed by delivery of the new license by courier with real-time tracking.
Hernández Kotasek said the digital system enhances security in license issuance by validating the driver’s identity and data, generating the document through institutional systems, and using security-grade printing. This strengthens controls and reduces the risk of irregular or unauthorized documents circulating.
The renewal process requires users to visit the state’s driver portal, select the online renewal option, verify their identity with their CURP and license folio number, and complete the electronic payment. Once authorized, the new license is prepared and sent to the applicant’s home.
The online service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from any location with internet access, saving time and eliminating travel for residents. It also includes electronic payment and real-time shipment tracking.
Only motorists who previously obtained an A1 or A2 license from Imoveqroo and meet the requirements listed on the driver portal can use the online renewal. All other license categories will continue to be processed in person.
Required documents include a renewal request, a valid or renewable driver’s license, a current government-issued photo ID, a recent proof of address, and the applicable fee.
The renewed license will be delivered only to the address registered on the previous license; the delivery address cannot be changed during the online process. Drivers who qualify for a discount or authorized benefit must renew in person to have the benefit applied.
