Chetumal, Quintana Roo — The government of Quintana Roo has opened registration for the second round of free functional aid distribution, offering wheelchairs, prosthetics, and hearing aids to residents in need. Applications must be submitted by July 10.

Governor Mara Lezama announced the initiative, which is coordinated with the state DIF (Integral Family Development) system and the Public Charity agency. The program aims to improve access to health and mobility for the most vulnerable populations, with support from the federal government.

Requirements and Registration Process

Applicants must present the following documents at designated DIF offices or Public Charity locations across the state:

  • Valid CURP (Unique Population Registry Code)
  • Official identification
  • Recent proof of address
  • Medical prescription (required only for wheelchairs)

For personalized assistance, residents can call 983 285 3865.

Since the start of the current administration, the program has delivered over 6,000 functional devices, including 3,000 hearing aids, 18,000 prescription glasses, and 2,500 external breast prostheses with orthopedic bras. The goal for this second round is to distribute more than 3,000 additional aids.
