Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — Local officials are promoting Puerto Aventuras as a micro tourism destination, highlighting its dual appeal of a marina and a traditional market.
The destination is divided into two main areas: the marina and the town, which features the San Valentín market known for promoting local cuisine. Nearby communities like Uxuxubi also serve as complementary tourist attractions.
Estefanía Hernández, the tourism secretary in Playa del Carmen, said authorities are working on a tourism agenda with Mayor Gilberto Gómez Martínez to attract both national and international visitors, as well as local residents.
Hernández noted that the town square has already received cultural enhancements through various activities, which need to be included in the tourism agenda and made known to marina residents. Many of these residents are foreigners who spend extended periods in the area to escape cold weather in their home countries, viewing Puerto Aventuras as a second home.
