SimiPet Care and Café Simi to Open on Playa del Carmen’s Quinta Avenida

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Dr. Simi brand is preparing to open two new concepts on Quinta Avenida, Playa del Carmen’s main tourist thoroughfare. Signage for SimiPet Care and Café Simi is already visible at a location that is being fitted out.

The announcements on the building indicate that the two brands, both part of the company behind Farmacias Similares, are set to open there, though no official opening date has been announced.

The combination of pet care and a coffee shop is a new concept for one of the Mexican Caribbean’s busiest tourist corridors, a pedestrian avenue frequented daily by residents and thousands of visitors, many of whom walk with their pets.

SimiPet Care represents the brand’s entry into the veterinary sector. Its existing locations in Mexico focus on dogs and cats and offer general consultations, vaccinations, deworming, and wound care.

One of its most recent formats, opened in Mexico City, also includes dog bathing and grooming services alongside Café Simi, allowing pet owners to stay in the café while their pets are being cared for.

Café Simi serves hot and cold beverages, food, and branded products, including the so-called ‘conchas Simi.’

It is not yet confirmed whether the Playa del Carmen location will offer the full range of services available at other branches, and the final offering will likely be announced when the store opens.

SimiPet began operations in Mexico in 2025 with its first clinic in the Escandón neighborhood of Mexico City, later expanding to other cities. In Quintana Roo, a SimiPet Care is already operating in Cancún. The Playa del Carmen location will be the brand’s first on the city’s main tourist strip.

For now, the storefront remains under preparation with no official opening date, but the signs already tell passersby that Dr. Simi will soon have a new home in Playa del Carmen.
