Playa del Carmen Launches Free Discount Card for Local Residents
Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The municipal government has launched a free discount card called Pase Playense, aimed at boosting the local economy by encouraging residents to shop at participating businesses.
The program, promoted by Mayor Estefanía Mercado’s administration, offers discounts, promotions, and exclusive benefits on products and services at 183 registered establishments. According to Estefanía Hernández, Secretary of Economic Development and Investment Attraction, the card could generate an estimated annual savings of 36,254 Mexican pesos per user. Some benefits can be used multiple times, potentially increasing actual savings.
Officials project the program will benefit more than 100,000 cardholders, strengthening the circular economy and keeping money within Playa del Carmen. Participating businesses include hospitals, beauty and health services, and other local enterprises.
Registration opened June 30 and closes July 24. Interested residents can sign up for free at www.paseplayense.enplaya.mx.
