Argentine Man Arrested in Tulum With Over 60 Drug Doses

An Argentine man, Facundo N, in custody after being arrested with over 60 doses of drugs in Tulum

Tulum, Quintana Roo — A 28-year-old Argentine citizen identified as Facundo “N” was arrested red-handed in Tulum during a coordinated security operation after authorities seized more than 60 doses of drugs from him.

According to initial official reports, the arrest was carried out in coordination with officers from the State Prosecutor’s Office and the Mexican Army as part of ongoing surveillance and anti-drug trafficking efforts deployed across the municipality. During the operation, agents found various doses of illicit substances among the foreigner’s belongings.

Following the seizure, Facundo “N” was handed over to the State Prosecutor’s Office, which is responsible for opening the corresponding investigation and determining his legal status for his alleged involvement in drug dealing offenses.

Authorities did not disclose the exact location of the arrest or the type of narcotics seized. The case once again highlights the presence of foreign nationals allegedly linked to illegal activities in this tourist destination, where operations against drug sales and distribution have increased in recent years.

The security operation was carried out under the inter-institutional coordination scheme currently in place in Tulum, involving municipal, state, and federal forces. Such deployments have intensified in areas with high tourist traffic and in locations identified by authorities as hotspots for drug-related crimes.

In recent months, Tulum has seen multiple arrests linked to alleged drug dealing, involving both Mexican and foreign citizens, as part of a strategy focused on curbing illegal activities that affect the destination’s image and security. Various operations have resulted in the seizure of drug doses, weapons, and individuals allegedly linked to criminal cells.

So far, the State Prosecutor’s Office has not reported whether the detainee has a criminal record or whether the investigations could lead to new lines of inquiry related to drug distribution networks in the municipality.
