Woman Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash in Tulum

Two damaged vehicles at the intersection of Kukulkan Avenue and Mercurio Poniente in Tulum after a collision

Tulum, Quintana Roo — A woman was injured Friday in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Kukulkan Avenue and Mercurio Poniente in the Maya neighborhood of Tulum.

Emergency services responded to a 911 call and found a white Nissan Versa (license plate URG602N) and a gray Hyundai Creta (license plate URH086N) with severe damage.

The female driver of the Nissan Versa suffered injuries from the impact, airbag deployment, and the seatbelt. Paramedics provided pre-hospital care at the scene while traffic officers cordoned off the area to prevent further incidents.

Preliminary reports indicate the Hyundai driver may have failed to stop at a stop sign when entering Kukulkan Avenue, causing the Nissan, which had the right of way, to collide with it. Traffic authorities will determine official responsibility after an investigation.

The crash caused slow traffic for several minutes as crews worked to clear the wreckage. Nearby residents and business owners said the intersection has been a frequent site of accidents due to driver negligence and speeding.

Authorities urged motorists to obey traffic signs and drive cautiously, especially at high-traffic intersections like Kukulkan Avenue.
