Young Man Shot Dead in Jose Maria Morelos, Dies During Hospital Transfer

Bullet Casings on the ground

Jose Maria Morelos, Quintana Roo — A young man was shot dead Saturday afternoon in the Vicente Guerrero neighborhood, triggering a large response from police and emergency services.

The attack occurred around 4 p.m. on Saban Street at the corner of Ichmul, where residents reported multiple gunshots. Municipal police officers arriving at the scene found the victim seriously wounded and a bicycle lying on the road.

Preliminary reports indicate that about 10 spent shell casings were recovered at the scene. Witnesses told authorities the suspected attackers fled on a motorcycle after the shooting.

Firefighter paramedics provided emergency medical care at the scene. Although the victim still had vital signs when stabilized and transported, his condition worsened during the transfer and he died on Vicente Guerrero Street at Chichankab, within the same neighborhood.

Residents said the victim lived about 200 meters from where he was attacked.

Municipal police cordoned off the area to preserve evidence, while investigators and forensic experts processed the scene.

As of late Saturday, authorities had not officially confirmed the victim’s identity.
