Cancun, Quintana Roo — The body of a man was found Sunday in the mangrove at kilometer 10 of Cancun’s Hotel Zone, authorities said.
Passersby discovered the body in the vegetation just a few meters from the Leblanc hotel and reported it to authorities. Tourist Police officers arrived at the scene and confirmed the man was dead, then requested paramedics and investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office.
According to unconfirmed reports, the man was between 40 and 50 years old. Authorities have not yet said whether the body showed signs of violence.
Private paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, and forensic experts processed the area before the body was taken to the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO), where he was registered as unidentified. Officials are expected to determine whether the death was natural or the result of a violent act.
