Police and emergency vehicles at the scene of a fatal motorcycle crash in Cancun

Cancun, Quintana Roo — A 27-year-old radio host died early Sunday after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a median in Cancun’s Supermanzana 307 neighborhood.

The accident occurred around 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of Chachalacas Street and Luis Donaldo Colosio Avenue. Motorists called 911 to report an injured person after a motorcycle crash.

The victim was identified as Juan José de la Cruz Madero, known as “Juanjo,” who worked as a radio host in the city. According to the Traffic Department, he was riding a green Italika motorcycle with Quintana Roo plates.

Preliminary investigations indicate that de la Cruz was traveling west on Chachalacas Street when he lost control, veered left, and struck the median curb.

Red Cross paramedics arrived at the scene but could only confirm that he had no vital signs.

Municipal traffic officers conducted the accident investigation to determine the exact cause.

State Prosecutor’s Office personnel later carried out the official proceedings and removed the body. The motorcycle was seized as part of the investigation.

News of “Juanjo’s” death prompted an outpouring of tributes on social media. Friends, colleagues, and acquaintances remembered his joy, charisma, and passion for broadcasting. “May the celestial echo of your voice as a radio host resound strongly in heaven, lifting you to sublime heights, dear friend,” one close contact wrote.

Another recalled their high school years together: “I met you in prep school, we used to skip class and you were always the one who started the party. You always wanted to be a radio host and be in the media. Fly high, Juanjo. May God give strength to your family.”
