Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — Puerto Morelos concluded its participation in the 50th edition of the Tianguis Turístico de México 2026 with positive results and a strong presence, according to Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, solidifying its position as a competitive and growing destination in the Mexican Caribbean.

During the major tourism industry event, the municipality secured more than 34 business meetings and attended to around 300 people interested in the destination, boosting its profile in national and international markets.

Tziu Muñoz highlighted the signing of a Friendship Agreement with the municipality of San Pedro Cholula, Puebla, as well as receiving the “Lo Mejor de México” award from México Desconocido magazine, which named the Ruta de los Cenotes as the Best Tourist Route in the country — one of the area’s main attractions.

“We close a very productive participation in the Tianguis Turístico de México, positioning Puerto Morelos, the Heart of the Mexican Caribbean, and showing the world the richness of our tourist experiences and the warmth of our people,” the mayor said.

She noted that Puerto Morelos offers a wide variety of experiences, from sun and beach tourism to adventure and nautical activities, taking advantage of its proximity to the second largest barrier reef in Mesoamerica, as well as a high-level gastronomic offer recognized by the Michelin Guide.

Tziu Muñoz also emphasized the potential to further promote the natural and cultural attractions of the youngest municipality in Quintana Roo, which will generate greater economic benefits for residents.

The mayor thanked Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa for her support, highlighting her constant push for innovation in the state’s tourism sector, which has kept Quintana Roo as a leader on the global map of vacation destinations.

Sustainable Tourism Secretary Karina Vázquez reported that several agencies showed interest in including Puerto Morelos in their tourism catalogs, opening new opportunities for promotion and growth.
