Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A woman was injured this morning when her car rolled over on the Puerto Morelos-Playa del Carmen section of Highway 307, according to witnesses and emergency officials.
The accident occurred around 10 a.m. on the northbound side, near the Vidanta hotel, at the site of a former sinkhole. Witnesses said the driver of a gray Nissan March lost control of the vehicle after passing Kilometer 307, struck the curb, and flipped several times before landing upside down on its roof.
The driver did not sustain serious injuries and was evaluated at the scene by ERUM paramedics. Civil Protection personnel cordoned off the area to prevent further accidents, and National Guard officers took charge of the investigation to determine responsibility.
Traffic on the highway was disrupted for about an hour while the vehicle was removed by a tow truck.
