Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A worker at Xavage, an adventure park operated by Grupo Xcaret, died Monday evening after a motorcycle accident on the Playa del Carmen-Puerto Morelos highway.
The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes at the entrance to Playa del Carmen, just before the Nickelodeon hotel, according to initial reports.
The man, believed to be around 30 years old, may have been struck by another vehicle or lost control of his motorcycle and skidded, authorities said. Investigators have not yet determined the exact cause.
The victim was identified as Yussel M., who worked at Xavage. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and confirmed he had no vital signs.
Officers from the State Prosecutor’s Office later removed the body and transported it to the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) for examination.
Prosecutors are reviewing surveillance cameras in the area to determine how the accident occurred.
