Cancún, Quintana Roo — The second edition of the Quintana Roo Film Showcase (Muciq) will screen 11 short films in Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Chetumal from August 21 to 28.

Screenings will take place at the Fábricas de Arte y Oficios (Faros) in all three cities, with works spanning documentary, fiction, animation, and experimental formats. Organizers selected the 11 films from 37 entries.

This year’s selection explores themes including inherited maps of conquest, tourism and rigid borders, fantastical figures that inhabit the state, and stories that inspire. The showcase aims to give residents access to the diversity of perspectives, voices, and dreams emerging from Quintana Roo’s film community.
