Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — The Puerto Morelos 2026 Carnival, themed “To the Rhythm of History and Tradition,” concluded with a historic turnout of over 16,000 attendees across three days of festivities, according to municipal authorities and local sources.
The event wrapped up with a traditional parade of floats along Avenida Zetina Gasca, featuring 24 units including contest entries, municipal departments, and car clubs, filling the coastal town’s streets with color and music.
A costume contest at the Nicolás Zurdo Estrella Baseball Field showcased creativity across all age groups. Awards included recognitions for costumes such as “The Jewel of the Caribbean,” “Queen of the Living Coral,” and “The Guardian of the Reef.”
The final day featured the ceremonial burning of Juan Carnaval, symbolizing the end of the celebrations, followed by a headline concert by artist El Bogueto that drew more than 2,000 people, along with performances by Joel HLJ and Jeydi TQM.
The municipal mayor highlighted the carnival’s positive impact, not only as a cultural and family-friendly event but also as a boost to the local economy and the destination’s tourism profile.
The festivities concluded without incident, thanks to coordination between security personnel and emergency services, ensuring a safe and festive environment for residents and visitors alike.
