Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — Fundadores Park now offers a free high-speed Wi-Fi network installed by the municipal government in partnership with GigNet Mexico. The service is already logging more than 1,200 connected devices per day.
Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz led the launch of the network, which provides unlimited internet access for residents and visitors using the public space. The connection allows people to communicate, look up information, work, and use digital tools from the park.
The installation is part of Axis 3, “Opportunities for Everyone,” of the municipality’s 2024–2027 Development Plan, and is one of the actions planned to expand connectivity in public spaces.
During the event, Tziu Muñoz said the service is meant to make digital tools more accessible for people who live in, work in, or visit Puerto Morelos, while expanding what the park can offer. GigNet Mexico’s vice president of institutional relations and special projects, Luis de Potestad, accompanied the mayor at the launch.
The city government said the connection will remain available for park users and is part of the municipal plan to bring technology services to public spaces.
