Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The vote on Playa del Carmen’s urban development plan has been postponed by at least a month and a half due to the volume of public feedback received during a consultation in February.
The plan was scheduled for discussion and a vote at the city council’s final session this Friday, but officials said responding to participants’ observations is taking longer than expected.
Hernán González De los Santos, the Secretary of Territorial Planning, explained that authorities are committed to addressing all citizen concerns raised during the public consultation before moving forward.
Among the key issues highlighted in the feedback are concerns about irregular settlements in the northern part of the city, where a proposed road could require relocating homes. González also noted observations about linear parks and medians that are planned for construction, saying experts will be consulted to address these points.
