Olympic Dream Program Inspires Students in Puerto Aventuras

Daphne Mercado, a taekwondo athlete, addresses students during the Sueño Olímpico program at a school in Puerto Aventuras.

Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — Olympic taekwondo athlete Daphne Mercado De Lima urged students to pursue their dreams during a visit to a local school as part of the Sueño Olímpico (Olympic Dream) program.

“Fight for your dreams, don’t let anything discourage or defeat you. You have the potential to overcome any challenge. Remember that the love, strength, and support of your family are your greatest assets. Study hard and practice your favorite sport. Every effort and sacrifice will be rewarded,” Mercado told students gathered at the Telesecundaria Luis Manuel Aguilar Cruz.

The program, organized by the Playa del Carmen Municipal Sports Institute, aims to motivate young people in Quintana Roo to adopt an active lifestyle through sports.

Eligio Alcantara Solís, sports director of the institute, thanked school principal Juan Diego Espinosa for hosting the event. He said the program seeks to inspire youth to pursue sports as a way to improve themselves every day.

Students from the Telesecundaria Itzamná in the community of El Sauce also attended, accompanied by their principal, Valeria Guadalupe Santiago Cab. After Mercado’s talk, students asked numerous questions, showing great participation and enthusiasm.

Also present were Vladimir Gongora Pat, general coordinator of the institute’s sports training centers; Carlos Heriberto Sosa, sports coordinator for the Puerto Aventuras municipal office; and coach Alejandra Marfil Chi, head of the community’s taekwondo training center.
