Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama and Mayor Erik Borges Yam at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Hospital Integral in Jose Maria Morelos

Jose Maria Morelos, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, joined by Mayor Erik Borges Yam, led the groundbreaking ceremony Friday for the new Hospital Integral de Jose Maria Morelos, marking the start of one of the most significant healthcare infrastructure projects for the Maya Zone.

During the ceremony, officials presented the architectural model and plans for the facility, which will be built on a 9,817.45-square-meter plot at the corner of Miguel Hidalgo and Primavera streets in the municipal seat.

The hospital will have a construction area of 3,019.02 square meters and represents an investment of 85,284,832.73 pesos (approximately $4.6 million USD).

The Integral Hospital will feature 10 outpatient consultation rooms, a pharmacy, clinical archive, laboratory, X-ray room, ultrasound, mammography, blood transfusion unit, a CEYE (central supply and sterilization) area, hospitalization with 14 beds, a wound clinic, emergency area, one operating room, a labor-delivery-recovery room, an expulsion room, as well as a kitchen, dining room, warehouse, machine room, workshops, and administrative offices.

Officials from all three levels of government, healthcare personnel, and dozens of local residents attended the event to witness the official start of construction.

With this project, the state and federal governments aim to strengthen medical infrastructure in Jose Maria Morelos, bringing higher-capacity hospital services closer to residents of the municipality and communities in the Maya Zone, reducing the need to travel to other cities for specialized care.
