BCPMEX to Invest 700 Million Pesos in Yucatán Technology Center

Officials announce BCPMEX's 700 million peso investment in Yucatán.

Mérida, Yucatán — Gov. Joaquín Díaz Mena announced that BCPMEX, a company specializing in engineering, automation and technology solutions for the energy sector, will invest 700 million pesos to establish a Technology Development Center in Yucatán. The project is expected to generate 340 jobs — 110 direct and 230 indirect.

Accompanied by BCP Group CEO Alexander Ramón Mendoza Márquez, the governor said the foreign investment will help diversify the state’s economy, develop high-value-added sectors and create new job opportunities for Yucatán professionals and specialists.

The project will be rolled out in phases. In the first phase, BCPMEX will set up its base of operations at the Yucatán Scientific and Technological Park, where it will carry out engineering, automation and technology development activities and serve the energy market in the country’s southeast.

In later stages, BCPMEX plans to incorporate manufacturing, assembly and integration of specialized equipment, as well as evaluate new industrial facilities linked to its energy and energy transition lines.

As part of its long-term strategy, the company expects to leverage Yucatán’s logistics and energy infrastructure — particularly the advantages of the Progreso deep-water port and the Polo de Bienestar development hub — to take on larger-scale projects and expand its distribution and export capacity.

BCPMEX is the Mexican subsidiary of BCP Group, focused on engineering, automation and process optimization for the oil and gas, electric and energy industries. Its main offerings include intelligent systems for hydrocarbon production, industrial automation, real-time monitoring, electrical infrastructure, energy efficiency and artificial intelligence applied to industrial processes.

One of the project’s main work streams will be developing technology and automation to make energy industry operations more efficient, improving productivity, reducing failures and lowering operating costs through real-time monitoring systems and AI.

The company also plans to design, integrate and assemble modular electrical substations and control systems to meet the energy needs of industrial facilities and new production projects.

In the clean energy field, BCPMEX will develop solutions related to solar, wind and green hydrogen energy, aimed at reducing emissions and making it easier to incorporate more sustainable energy sources into industrial processes.

The Technology Development Center will establish specialized engineering, testing, demonstration and technology training capabilities in Yucatán, while also creating conditions to progressively add specialized manufacturing and assembly activities.

The project is expected to foster closer ties with universities, research centers, companies and local suppliers, promoting technology transfer, talent development and the integration of Yucatán businesses into new value chains.

Officials present at the announcement included Secretary of Economy and Labor Ermilo Barrera Novelo; BCP Group’s U.S. Business Development lead Diego Mendoza Gotera; Deputy Secretary of Investment, Trade and Industry Roger Góngora García; Yucatán Development Agency Director General Mary Angélica Pérez López; and BCPMEX Country Manager José Ramón Silva Arizabalo.
