Chetumal, Mexico — A judge has ordered four suspects to remain in custody pending trial for alleged small-scale drug trafficking in the Othón P. Blanco municipality, which includes the state capital of Chetumal.
The State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) secured the pretrial detention orders during separate hearings after presenting evidence that convinced the judge the suspects posed a flight risk or danger to the community.
Authorities charged Federico “N” and Kenneth Josmar “N” with possession of marijuana and methamphetamine with intent to distribute. In a separate case, Jeiber Rafael “N” and Rubén Darío “N” face similar charges.
The judge imposed pretrial detention for up to two years, or for the duration of the judicial process.
The FGE stated these actions are part of an ongoing strategy to combat the trafficking and distribution of drugs at the retail level, aiming to reduce risks to public security and health in the state capital.
