Police Arrest Three Suspects in Fatal Cancun Cocktail Bar Attack

Police officers patrol the San Alfredo neighborhood in Cancun, Mexico, following a deadly shooting at the El Paisa cocktail bar.

Cancun, Quintana Roo — Municipal police and state investigators arrested at least three people in Cancun, including suspects allegedly involved in the armed attack on the El Paisa cocktail bar that killed a worker and wounded three others Sunday night.

Security forces launched a large-scale operation Monday across several points of the city to track down those responsible, with a concentration of patrols and searches in the San Alfredo neighborhood, according to initial reports.

Officials have not yet released the identities of the detainees.

The shooting took place on Niños Héroes Avenue in the Region 228, where a bar worker died after being hit by multiple gunshots. Two men reportedly arrived at the establishment on a motorcycle; one entered and opened fire on the employee, who died at the scene. The gunman also wounded two adults and a minor inside the bar, who were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The State Prosecutor’s Office of Quintana Roo is expected to provide updates in the coming hours.
