Cancún, Quintana Roo — Poets have until the end of May to submit work for the 2026 poetry anthology “Identidad quintanarroense,” organized by Editorial Vértice.
The anthology aims to bring together poems by authors from the Mexican Caribbean that reflect perspectives and a sense of belonging to Quintana Roo.
According to the call, poets aged 18 and older may submit three poems on any theme or format, as long as each includes at least one reference to the Mexican Caribbean territory — from pre-Hispanic times to the present. References may include geography, history, fauna, flora, customs, rituals, traditions, local legends, folk art, names of towns and cities, cenotes, beaches, and typical characters.
Entries must be submitted anonymously in a Word file via the link https://forms.gle/jEpgNUUunZt5b2Bm6, using an email address that does not reveal the author’s identity. Selected authors will be contacted through the same email.
A editorial board of poetry specialists will evaluate the texts, prioritizing aesthetic and creative quality. Each selected author will be informed which of their poems will appear in the anthology.
Selected works — which may be previously published or unpublished — will remain the property of the authors, who must sign authorization forms for the legal publication of the anthology in 2026.
Editorial Vértice, based in Cancún, intends the anthology to become a benchmark for the diverse poetry written in this region of Mexico, in dialogue with global poetic traditions and literary references.
The new anthology continues a cycle that began with a printed dossier on Cancún novelist Carlos Hurtado and the anthologies Q36 and Q18. The latter was presented at the 2025 Guadalajara International Book Fair.
