Chetumal, Mexico — Fishermen in Chetumal Bay took advantage of recent cold temperatures to catch at least a dozen jack crevalle in minutes, with some specimens weighing more than eight kilograms.
The unusual catches drew attention from onlookers in the area as the fish reached unusually large sizes for coastal fishing.
Local fishermen capitalized on the afternoon conditions, as the temperature drop caused fish schools to move closer to shore, making them easier to catch.
Such fishing opportunities typically occur during cold fronts or significant temperature drops when water conditions change and increase fishing prospects near the coastline.
The activity proceeded without incident and represents typical winter dynamics in Chetumal Bay.
