Quintana Roo, Mexico — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa has urged residents to take precautions as Cold Front 33 is forecast to bring temperatures as low as 9°C to 11°C to the state on Friday and Saturday.
State authorities said the temperature drop will be accompanied by an even lower wind chill during the early morning and dawn, particularly in rural areas. This weather system is part of a frontal system moving over the Yucatan Peninsula, which has prompted monitoring by civil protection agencies.
Cold Front 33 is expected to bring minimum temperatures between 9°C and 11°C on Friday, February 6, and Saturday, February 7. A polar air mass could also generate isolated showers and rain, along with moderate northerly winds with gusts in various regions of the state, especially in coastal areas.
Health Risks and Recommendations
Authorities warned that these conditions could pose health risks, especially for children, the elderly, and people with respiratory illnesses. They issued the following recommendations:
- Dress warmly, particularly at night and in the early morning.
- Stay informed through official channels and weather bulletins.
- Consult port authorities about maritime activities and follow their instructions.
Officials noted that weather conditions could change in the coming hours and advised residents to remain vigilant.
