Chain-Reaction Crash in Playa del Carmen Leaves One Injured, Major Damage

Scene of a rear-end collision on CTM Avenue in Playa del Carmen showing damaged vehicles

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A chain-reaction crash on CTM Avenue near the entrance to the Villas del Sol neighborhood left one person injured and caused significant damage to three vehicles, authorities said.

The incident occurred when a woman driving a white Suzuki SUV braked suddenly to avoid hitting a motorcycle that reportedly cut across her path, triggering a chain reaction among vehicles behind her, according to initial reports.

A black Cupra Leon sedan also braked hard to avoid a collision, but a local union taxi with economic number 3189 failed to stop in time and rear-ended the sports car.

The Suzuki sustained minor damage, while the Cupra and the taxi suffered major damage to their front and rear ends, respectively.

Paramedics treated the Cupra driver at the scene for minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

Municipal traffic officers arrived to investigate and manage traffic, as the accident caused temporary delays in the area.

After several minutes of discussion, the parties involved reached an agreement through their insurance companies to cover the repairs.

A tow truck removed the taxi and the Cupra, which sustained the most damage.
