murder in punta estrella playa del carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A man was killed in a shooting Saturday in the Punta Estrella residential development, near Avenida 125 and Avenida CTM, according to authorities.

Preliminary reports indicate that suspected gunmen entered the residential area and attacked the victim without saying a word. Witnesses told police that the shooter walked directly up to the man, opened fire, and fled in an unknown direction.

Paramedics with the municipal civil protection agency arrived minutes later, but the victim, who had been shot, showed no vital signs, officials said.

Municipal police officers with the Public Security Department cordoned off the scene and awaited investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office to collect evidence.
