Man Found Dead Under Sheet in Colosio Neighborhood of Playa del Carmen

Law enforcement officers secure the scene where a man's body was found under a sheet in Playa del Carmen.

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The body of a man was discovered early Sunday in the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood, authorities said. The victim, whose identity has not been confirmed, may have been lying in the street for several hours before being spotted by passersby.

The body was found on Calle 68, between Avenidas 20 and 25. After receiving an emergency call, municipal and state police officers, along with Mexican Army personnel, responded and cordoned off the area to secure the scene.

Initial reports suggest the victim was not homeless and that the body may have been transported to the site, as it was covered with a sheet. Security officials said that hypothesis has not been officially confirmed.

The scene was turned over to forensic investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office, who gathered evidence and transferred the body to the forensic medical service. Investigators and a legal autopsy will determine the exact cause of death, whether violence was involved, and the victim’s identity.
