Argentine Citizen Arrested in Tulum With Over 60 Drug Doses

Police officers detain a suspect during a drug operation in Tulum, Quintana Roo.

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Authorities arrested a 28-year-old Argentine citizen in Tulum on Thursday after finding him in possession of more than 60 doses of suspected narcotics during a joint security operation involving local, state, and federal forces.

The suspect, identified as Facundo “N,” was detained by officers from the Tulum Public Security and Citizen Protection Department, working alongside agents from the State Prosecutor’s Office and the Mexican Army.

According to the official report, the arrest occurred while officers were conducting routine surveillance and prevention patrols in the municipality. During a search, they discovered multiple doses of illicit substances and immediately took the foreign national into custody.

The suspect and the seized drugs were handed over to the State Prosecutor’s Office, which will open an investigation and determine his legal status on charges of drug dealing at the retail level.

Authorities did not specify the exact location of the arrest but said the operation is part of ongoing security efforts in Tulum, a major tourist destination in Quintana Roo that attracts large numbers of domestic and international visitors.

The municipal police department said surveillance strategies continue in coordination with state and federal forces under the “Blindaje Tulum” operation, which targets drug dealing and other high-impact crimes.
