Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo — Security forces from all three levels of government have extended permanent patrols in neighborhoods of the municipal seat and the boroughs of Tihosuco and Señor, resulting in one arrest, local authorities announced.
State police, Mexican Navy personnel, soldiers from the Mexican Army (SEDENA), and National Guard officers are conducting simultaneous operations in neighborhoods of the city and the two boroughs. One person was detained in Tihosuco.
The operations, which began Wednesday, were launched in response to the forced disappearance of two young people who were abducted in the Los Chunes area by unknown individuals. Their whereabouts remain unknown.
The day before, National Guard and Navy aircraft conducted overflights of the Chunhuhub borough and surrounding areas to search for signs of criminal activity. In Tihosuco, authorities have maintained a visible presence throughout the week, with patrols in the central plaza, peripheral streets, and areas bordering Yucatán state, as well as searches at various points in the community.
The State Prosecutor’s Office participated in the operation, leading to the arrest of a man, though officials have not officially disclosed the reason for the detention.
On Friday, the search collective “Buscando por Amor” joined the permanent operation, accompanied by investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office, members of the search commission, municipal police, state police, a canine unit, and the Mexican Navy.
The mothers’ group said the operation supports the search for the two people reported missing since Wednesday in the Los Chunes area.
