Cancun, Quintana Roo — A man has been formally charged with aggravated robbery in connection with a theft that took place last month at a property on Boulevard Kukulcán, the state prosecutor’s office said.
According to the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE), the charges stem from an incident on Aug. 22, when two victims were at the property with other people. During the evening, one of those present heard noises and saw a man flee after realizing he had been spotted.
When the group checked their belongings, one victim found that an iPad, a laptop, a cellphone and cash were missing. The second victim reported that a tablet had been stolen. The victims’ identities were not released.
Prosecutors said they received a complaint and obtained an arrest warrant against Agustín N., which was later executed. The suspect was then brought before a judge, who reviewed the evidence and ordered him to stand trial. The judge also imposed preventive detention, keeping Agustín N. in custody for the duration of the judicial process.
