Tulum, Quintana Roo — The Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office has activated search alerts for two men reported missing in the municipality of Tulum, as family members urgently appeal to the public for any information that could help locate them.

The first case involves Angel Luis Portillo Galvan, 32, who was last seen on May 12, 2026, in Tulum. A formal missing person report was filed on May 15, leading to the issuance of alert 34/FDC/2026 by the specialized missing persons unit.

According to the alert, Portillo Galvan is a Mexican national with fair skin, a slim build, dark brown eyes, and short, straight black hair. He has a distinctive tattoo of three black lines on his upper right arm. He stands approximately 1.75 meters (5 feet 9 inches) tall and weighs about 78 kilograms (172 pounds).

Authorities said it is unknown what he was wearing at the time of his disappearance. No information on his whereabouts or contact with family has been available since Tuesday, May 12.

In a second case, the prosecutor’s office activated search alert 35/FDC/2026 for Amalio Jimenez Che, 60, who was last seen on May 14, 2026, in Tulum.

Jimenez Che is a Mexican national with brown skin, a medium build, dark brown eyes, and short black hair. He stands approximately 1.45 meters (4 feet 9 inches) tall and weighs about 55 kilograms (121 pounds). At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing black pants, a white and blue T-shirt, and white sneakers. Relatives and authorities said his whereabouts have been unknown since Thursday, May 14.

The State Prosecutor’s Office is asking the public to report any information that could help locate either man. Tips can be called in to 984 873 0163 or submitted through the official Facebook page “Busqueda QRoo.”

The disappearances have sparked concern among Tulum residents, where families of missing persons have repeatedly called for greater dissemination of search alerts and faster responses from authorities to speed up investigations and search efforts.
