Cancun, Quintana Roo — Two men have been formally charged in separate cases involving sexual crimes against minors, the state prosecutor’s office announced.
A judge ordered pretrial detention for both suspects after finding sufficient evidence to proceed with prosecution.
The first suspect, identified as Hamlet “N,” faces charges of sexual abuse against two girls. The alleged incidents occurred in a housing complex on Isla Galápagos Street in the Supermanzana 251 neighborhood.
According to witnesses, the suspect performed obscene acts in front of the two minors, who were inside their apartment. He allegedly threatened to break in if they did not watch him.
After his arrest and initial court appearance, the judge ordered a two-year pretrial detention. Following that ruling, other residents came forward with additional complaints, accusing the man of repeatedly engaging in similar exhibitionist behavior toward women in the community.
In a separate case, Eduardo Iván “N” was charged with the rape of another minor, whose identity is protected. Investigators say the assaults occurred repeatedly over a three-year period, beginning when the victim was 7 years old and continuing until she turned 10.
The suspect allegedly exploited his close family relationship with the child to commit the attacks.
The judge ordered Eduardo Iván “N” held in pretrial detention for up to two years, or for the duration of the judicial proceedings.
