Public transport drivers from the "Lázaro Cárdenas del Río" taxi union staged a partial blockade on Federal Highway 307 in Playa del Carmen on Wednesday. The protest occurred directly outside the offices of the Quintana Roo Mobility Institute (Imoveqroo), where the drivers even secured the office doors with padlocks.
The demonstration involved over 30 vehicles and approximately 150 operators. They were demanding the release of one of their vans, which was reportedly held due to alleged irregularities. One of their key demands was for transporters to be allowed to uphold an agreement allowing four standing passengers inside their vehicles.
Furthermore, they requested the presence of the Mobility officer in Solidaridad, David Cosgaya, and the director of Imoveqroo, Rodrigo Alcázar Urrutia. After an hour of the blockade and protests, officials from the Quintana Roo Mobility Institute arrived on the scene and held a meeting with the drivers.
This intervention led to the reopening of the two lanes that had been closed during the protest.
