Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — Playa del Carmen Mayor Estefanía Mercado and Senator Eugenio Segura led a “Chambamanía” outreach event here, providing over 500 people with free access to government services without needing to travel to administrative offices.

From the main dome of the municipal hall, alongside cabinet members and Mayor Gilberto Gómez, Mercado highlighted that this program, held as part of “Día del Pueblo,” has become a key strategy to bring government closer to citizens. “This program was created to be close to the people, to listen and solve problems. We don’t want anyone to have to spend on transportation or lose a whole day to complete paperwork; today the city council comes to your community,” she said.

She noted that “Chambamanía” consolidates municipal services, social support, and affordable products in one space, strengthening direct assistance and the local economy.

During the event, services included issuing birth, marriage, and death certificates; property tax payments and tax guidance; public service reports; medical consultations and preventive care; legal and psychological advice; social programs and community assistance; job listings and training; and driver’s license issuance by the Quintana Roo Institute of Mobility (Imoveqroo), which recently joined “Chambamanía.”

Additionally, Mercado announced that for the first time, the “Mercadito Cerca de Ti” market, promoted by the Secretariat of Economic Development, was set up, offering products at low cost. “What we do is bring them at low cost so our people can access products at better prices,” the mayor explained.

Mercado and Segura toured the stands, where they were received by municipal officials. There, the mayor explained to the federal legislator for Quintana Roo the scope of this social strategy, aligned with the public policies of President Claudia Sheinbaum and Governor Mara Lezama.

Later, both officials directly assisted citizens in the traditional public hearings of “Chambamanía.” Mercado emphasized that the program continues to grow with each edition, both in services and institutional participation. “Here, all departments are working together to provide real and quick solutions,” she said.

During the event, support from the “Playa Llena, Corazón Contento” program was also distributed. “The most important thing is to remind our people that they are not alone, that they have my full support, and that we come to listen to them face-to-face,” the mayor expressed.

Mercado reiterated that “Chambamanía” will continue touring neighborhoods and communities in the municipality, aiming to ensure a close, accessible government that responds directly to population needs.
