Harry Styles Braves Rain and Hail at Second Mexico City Show

Mexico City — Harry Styles went ahead with his second concert at Estadio GNP Seguros despite intense rain and hail that affected Mexico City. Thousands of fans remained in the stadium, many shielding themselves in rain ponchos, to enjoy the show.

The severe weather caused disruptions across the city, especially in the Iztacalco borough, where a heavy hailstorm covered streets in ice and also reached the GNP Seguros stadium. Styles’ entrance was postponed because of the conditions.

Around 9:30 p.m., the British singer appeared before a crowd that had protected their outfits with ponchos. He opened the set with “Are You Listening Yet?” and “Golden,” before shouting “¡Viva México!” to a loud ovation.

Styles thanked fans for staying through the rain, then continued with “Adore You” and “Watermelon Sugar,” two of the most sung-along songs of the night. He later performed “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” and “Taste Back” as screens showed a soaked but determined audience.

Nostalgia took over during “Night Changes” and “History,” songs from his One Direction days that drew some of the biggest cheers of the evening.

At one point, Styles slipped on the rain-slicked stage. The moment was captured by fans at the venue.

The storm also disrupted events near the stadium. The baseball game between the Diablos Rojos del México and the Guerreros de Oaxaca at Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú was suspended.

Hail affected areas including Agrícola Oriental and Lindavista. Metro lines 3 and 5 adjusted service because of hail buildup, water entering stations and a fallen tree on the tracks.

With the audience soaked and a night of rain, hail, music and nostalgia behind them, the second Mexico City date of Styles’ “Together, Together” tour came to a close. The singer is scheduled to return to Estadio GNP Seguros on Aug. 4, 7, 8 and 10, completing six scheduled shows in the capital.
