Cancún, Quintana Roo — Hotel chains in Cancún and the Riviera Maya have launched a unique promotion ahead of the soccer World Cup: if Mexico’s national team wins the tournament, guests will receive free stays.

The Royalton chain, which will host its own Fan Fest throughout the World Cup festivities, announced that if the Mexican team becomes champion, the luxury resort chain will refund stays for domestic travelers who booked between April and September 2026, inviting them to return.

According to the brand, the premium all-inclusive package will become an immersive celebration, with spaces inspired by stadiums, large-format screens, colorful environments, and programming designed to accompany each match.

The Original Group chain is preparing something similar, with its management announcing they will soon launch promotions featuring screens by pool areas to watch matches live and facilities themed around the soccer festivities.

Rodrigo de la Peña, leader of Cancún’s hotel association, said there will be various activities to raffle off additional nights, spa sessions, or day passes for friends, among other prizes.

Vicente Madrigal, president of the Promotion Committee of the Cancún, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres Hotel Association, added that virtually all hotels will launch World Cup-related promotions, as Cancún is expected to serve as an entry point for many fans attending matches.

Beyond hotel promotions, various brands and banks have launched active promotions focused on raffles for trips, tickets, and official merchandise. The main activities involve using credit/debit cards and purchasing mass-consumption products.

One of the largest promotions comes from a famous soft drink brand that is raffling trips to the World Cup, along with prizes like televisions, sports equipment, and limited-edition aluminum cups, among others.
