Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — Music students in Puerto Aventuras marked the completion of five months of classes with an end-of-term presentation at the Casa de la Música, part of the community’s Cultural Center.
The event closed the February-July 2026 workshop cycle organized by the Playa del Carmen Municipal Institute of Culture and Arts (IMCAP). Students performed for relatives, instructors and other members of the community, demonstrating the musical skills they developed during the semester.
The program included students from the music classes offered at the Puerto Aventuras facility. According to the municipality’s original enrollment announcement, the 2026 courses included piano, drums, guitar and singing with guitar.
Teachers were also recognized during the ceremony for their work with the children and young people enrolled in the program. IMCAP described the workshops as part of its effort to make arts education available outside central Playa del Carmen and provide community-based activities for younger residents.
The Casa de la Música is one of several municipal arts-education sites operated through IMCAP. The other principal facilities are the Cultural Center near the new municipal palace on CTM Avenue and the Artistic Initiation School associated with Mexico’s National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature in the Bellavista neighborhood.
When registration opened in February, the main Cultural Center offered 48 workshops covering dance, painting, printmaking, Indigenous cultures and other visual and performing arts. The Puerto Aventuras program concentrated primarily on practical music instruction, giving students the opportunity to study as vocalists, guitarists, pianists and drummers.
Municipal records describe the Casa de la Música workshops as structured courses intended to help participants explore and develop artistic and musical skills. Students who successfully complete a workshop may receive a certificate recognizing their participation.
The facility is located on Calle Guaya at the corner of Chico Zapote, on the road leading toward the Colegio de Bachilleres campus in Puerto Aventuras. The municipal registration record states that enrollment is handled in person at the Casa de la Música, with spaces subject to availability.
The municipal program generally operates in two annual cycles: January through July and September through December. Registration may be completed during the first seven business days of the month when places remain available. Applicants are required to submit the requested documents, complete an enrollment form and pay registration and recovery fees.
The Casa de la Música has also been used for vacation programs. In summer 2025, it hosted singing, piano, painting and Maya-language classes for 33 children and teenagers as part of an IMCAP program that reached more than 130 young people across Playa del Carmen and Puerto Aventuras.
This year, IMCAP is preparing another vacation program, “Verano por el Mundo,” scheduled for August 3 through 14. The course is being offered at the Casa de la Música, the central Cultural Center and the Artistic Initiation School. Registration for that program was held from July 1 through 10, according to the municipal announcement.
The municipality has not released the number of students who completed the February-July music cycle or announced dates for enrollment in the September-December session. Information about available spaces can be requested directly from the Casa de la Música at 984-181-4474.
