Cancún, Quintana Roo — Nearly three months after its inauguration, the Nichupté Bridge will reopen its lanes to pedestrians on Sunday, July 26, for the first edition of “PuenteAndo,” a recreational event that includes walking, running, cycling and family activities.

Since the bridge opened, authorities announced it would be available on the last Sunday of each month for recreational and family gatherings. The initiative aims to turn the structure into a meeting point for residents and visitors while promoting physical activity and enjoyment of the Nichupté Lagoon landscape.

Governor Mara Lezama invited the public to participate in the inaugural event, scheduled from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The event will feature walking and running areas, bike rides, local entrepreneurs, family activities, and will allow pets.

One of the main attractions will be the chance to watch the sunset from the bridge — an experience authorities hope to turn into a monthly tradition for locals and tourists.

Attendees are encouraged to share photos and videos on social media using the hashtag #PuenteAndo.

With this initiative, the Nichupté Bridge not only strengthens its role as one of Cancún’s most important mobility projects but also begins to establish itself as a new space for social gathering, recreation and enjoyment of the natural environment for families and visitors.
