Cancun, Quintana Roo — A woman was detained after she allegedly stabbed her partner to death during a jealous argument Monday night at a hotel in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, according to preliminary reports.
The attack occurred around 10 p.m. in the parking lot of a hotel at kilometer 18.5 of Boulevard Kukulcan, where the couple was inside a pickup truck when an argument broke out. The dispute, reportedly sparked by accusations of infidelity, escalated when the woman pulled a knife from her belongings and stabbed the man, authorities said.
The man, believed to be from Colombia, suffered severe wounds to his chest and abdomen. Paramedics from the private emergency service Life arrived at the scene but pronounced him dead.
The woman was detained following the attack, though officials have not yet confirmed her arrest. Investigators from the Homicide Unit were dispatched to the scene to begin gathering evidence.
Forensic specialists with the State Prosecutor’s Office processed the scene and removed the body to the Forensic Medical Service for an autopsy. The victim’s identity has not been released, and authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the attack and the woman’s legal status.
