Cancún Launches Home Construction Regularization Program

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Municipal authorities have launched a new program to help homeowners legalize unpermitted construction on their properties, offering amnesty from fines and administrative fees.

The Program for Regularization of Home Construction is aimed at residents who have made additions or structural modifications to their homes over the years but lack the required building permits or official documentation.

Under the program, homeowners will face no fines or surcharges for having built or expanded without a prior construction license, providing significant financial relief for families.

The initiative also simplifies paperwork and speeds up processing times, eliminating traditional bureaucratic hurdles to make the process more accessible.

In addition to financial and administrative incentives, beneficiaries will receive free specialized technical support focused exclusively on residential properties. This assistance aims to verify that construction is safe and meets basic urban development standards, ensuring structural stability for occupants.

Interested residents must visit the municipal Urban Development Department offices in person to begin the formal process.

Authorities said the program is now active and will remain open for a limited time, with a final deadline of September 2026 for residents to enroll and take advantage of the benefits.
