Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The Parks and Museums Foundation of Cozumel (FPMC) is hosting a free talk titled “Hidden Wildlife Cozumel,” led by biologist Travis Bayer, founder and director of Pathos Wildlife.
The event will take place on Saturday, July 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the Environmental Conservation and Education Center, located on 65th Avenue in Cozumel’s industrial zone. Admission is free and open to the public.
Bayer will share findings and experiences about the island’s terrestrial fauna, including the search for the elusive Cozumel fox, which is considered critically endangered and possibly extinct. He will also discuss the study of the island’s three endemic small mammals: the raccoon, coati, and fox.
According to Rafael Chacón Díaz, director of Conservation and Environmental Education, the talk offers an opportunity for residents to learn about the species that inhabit the island and the scientific efforts to study and protect them.
The FPMC invites students, teachers, researchers, families, and the general public to participate and strengthen their connection with Cozumel’s natural heritage.
