Acapulco, Guerrero — Tropical Storm Boris made landfall early Tuesday morning approximately 130 kilometers south of Punta Maldonado, Acapulco, according to Mexico’s National Meteorological Service (SMN).

The storm, which intensified from Tropical Depression Three-E, is currently located near the Mexico-Guatemala border. Authorities have warned of heavy rainfall across Guerrero and at least seven other states, with risks of landslides, rising river levels, and flooding.

The Mexican Navy ordered the closure of ports in Acapulco, Zihuatanejo, and Huatulco as a precaution. Civil protection officials urged residents in low-lying areas to remain alert and follow evacuation protocols if necessary.

Boris is the second named storm of the Pacific hurricane season, following Tropical Storm Amanda earlier this month.
