Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Tortilla prices in Quintana Roo are set to increase starting Wednesday, with adjustments ranging from 2 to 4 pesos per kilogram, according to producers in the sector.
The price hike responds primarily to rising costs of inputs like corn flour, gas, and other operational expenses that have pressured tortilla shops, who say they can no longer maintain current prices.
Currently, a kilogram of tortillas in the state ranges between 28 and 30 pesos, though some areas have already reported higher prices, placing the region among the most expensive in the country for this basic product.
The adjustment won’t be uniform, as each establishment will set prices according to their costs; however, the increase will directly impact family economies, given that tortillas are an essential food in daily diets.
This increase comes amid a national context of inflationary pressure, where rising input and service costs continue to affect basic products, generating concern among consumers.
