Tulum, Quintana Roo — Traffic authorities have removed illegal window tint from more than 260 vehicles in Tulum as part of ongoing enforcement operations aimed at improving security and ensuring compliance with state regulations.

The Traffic and Roadway Department reported that approximately 220 private vehicles and 46 public transport units have been cited for having window tint that exceeded permitted darkness levels.

Officials emphasized that according to current regulations, private cars may only have lightly tinted windows, while public transportation vehicles are prohibited from having any tint at all.

Authorities noted that drivers can apply for official permits to use window tint, which require vehicle inspection, current documentation, and an annual fee payment.

Enforcement operations will continue at various locations throughout the municipality to ensure road safety and legal compliance. Officials urged drivers to bring their vehicles into compliance to avoid fines.
